About Credit Cards
You are not required to accept credit cards to
participate in the Reader-to-Publisher Direct Online Bookstore
or for Custom Publisher Websites. HOWEVER ... IF YOU ARE SERIOUS
ABOUT BEING A SUCCESSFUL E-COMMERCE VENDOR, YOU MUST ACCEPT CREDIT
CARDS!
If you accept credit cards you:
- Appear more professional
- Instill confidence in the buyer that you will ship as promised.
Remember, credit card bills can be contested if you don't.
- Simplify the order fulfillment process. You simply process your
credit card authorization and ship your book.

About Book Descriptions
In the Reader-to-Publisher Direct Online
Bookstore, visitors may retrieve books by searches on "keywords".
The book retrieval process looks for keyword matches in your book
description. Therefore, to increase your book's retrieval rate, try to
include as many keywords as possible that apply to the content of your
book.

About Discounts
You are not required to give discounts on your books
to participate in Reader-to-Publisher Direct Online Bookstore.
However, discounts are listed in the book index and they do provide an
incentive to purchase direct from you. Remember, you are not paying any
other costs or commissions for being in Reader-to-Publisher Direct.
OUR
RECOMMENDATION: give 20%-30% discount as an incentive to buy direct from
you.

About Email
Reader-to-Publisher Direct is an automated
ordering system. Notice of orders, customer inquiries and other IPB
communications are sent by email. If you do not check your email
frequently, you cannot respond to customer orders or inquiries in a
timely manner. If you cannot check your email several times a week,
then Reader-to-Publisher Direct is not for you.
Be
sure to keep your email address current. Emails
to you which are returned as undeliverable will cause your account to be
closed, and all your books will be deleted from the database.

About Sales Tax
To participate in the Reader-to-Publisher Direct
Online Bookstore, it is a requirement that you NOT pass on sales tax to
the customer. We promote the concept that "Sales tax is paid by the
publisher". For Custom Publisher Websites it is your
choice.
NOTE: Sales tax is not normally applicable unless you
are shipping within your own state. So in most cases, this concession
costs you absolutely nothing. When sales tax does apply, it is typically
3-8% depending on your location. So just accept it as an additional
discount in those few cases where sales tax applies.
This discount averaged over all your orders (including out-of-state)
will cost you almost nothing.
